In 1994, about 20 men assembled at the request of Pastor David Schmidt in Salem, Oregon to sing for worship services during the Easter season. He asked Lou Wildman to conduct, and followed with a request to provide the finale at the camp meeting of the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Feeling that their voices would be lost in the campground's huge tent, they sent out a word of invitation for other men to join them in rehearsal—and were immensely surprised when 112 responded.

In the glow of that event, they planned a festival concert the following spring, expecting it to be a one-time event. Instead, the Festival has taken on a life of its own, with annual concerts in Portland, Vancouver (Washington), Salem, Eugene-and in 1998 and 1999 in Medford at the splendid Craterian Ginger Rogers Theatre. They have participated in each Oregon Conference Camp Meeting since 1994.

Officially named the Oregon Adventist Men's Chorus in 1996, the group presents sacred concerts that include music of the masters, hymns, gospel songs and spirituals.

In 2000, nearly 100 members of Oregon Adventist Men's Chorus sang in Toronto's SkyDome for over 50,000 people from around the world who were attending the Quinquennial Session of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. See Toronto trip pictures and memories.

Later that season they performed with the 150-year-old Vienna Male Chorus Society, for whom Schubert, Strauss, Brahms, and Bruckner composed, at the International Choral Festival in Gladstone, Oregon.

In the summer of 2001, 37 members of the chorus and 7 instrumentalists traveled to East Africa to sing for evangelistic meetings in Mwanza, Tanzania, and 75 singers and 9 instrumentalists traveled to Sacramento for the Adventist-Laymen's Services and Industries (ASI) National Convention on the weekend of August 11 in Sacramento. Both of these events were broadcast on worldwide television.
